Winter — before the cold arrives
- ☐ Bleed the radiators
- ☐ Draught-proof doors and windows
- ☐ Check loft insulation depth
- ☐ Set the thermostat and timer (see the thermostat guide)
- ☐ Lag exposed pipes
- ☐ Check the water heater setting (stored tank: 60°C / 140°F)
Summer — cooling without running the AC all day
- ☐ Shade windows in the day (curtains / blinds)
- ☐ Ventilate at night when it is cooler outside
- ☐ Only cool the rooms you use
- ☐ Clean air-conditioner filters
- ☐ Check the fridge is not working against a hot kitchen
